Garage Door Extension Spring Safety

You will find garage door extension springs in many lighter overhead units. There is one spring fitted over each side of the door over the horizontal track. Its back is connected to a specially designed hook or bolt while its front side is attached to a pulley. When the door is closed, the springs are extended and loaded with force. They are under great tension. If a spring breaks, it will no longer work to support the door and this can lead to a more serious problem. In order for such a risk to be avoided, all extension springs have a safety cable running through them. In case of breaking, it takes over the role of the main component and supports the door.
